Whispers Luxury Farmstay

Explore Gympie Region

Our region offers a wealth of attractions, all complemented by traditional country hospitality.

The highlight of our area is the Mary Valley Rattler steam train rides, along with the historic railway station café, which we highly recommend for a memorable day out.

Additionally, the Woodworks Museum and Interpretive Centre provides an in-depth look at the region’s rich forestry history, featuring both static and working exhibits, as well as live demonstrations.

For dining, we suggest the historic Kingston House Restaurant, a perfect venue for special occasions. This fine dining establishment, located in a beautifully restored Queenslander-style home, was once the area’s private maternity hospital in the early 1900s. Visitors may even catch a glimpse of Dr. Stanley’s ghost, a mysterious figure associated with his sudden death.

Another great dining and leisure option is Gunabul Homestead and Par 3 Golf Course, located in the heart of Gympie. Enjoy a delicious meal at the café before heading out for a round of golf on this historic working farm, which dates back to 1885.

Take a leisurely stroll down our main street, where historic buildings blend seamlessly with modern shopping and dining options. At the northern end, you’ll find the Gympie RSL Club, known for its stylish interior and excellent food.

Local markets are a weekend tradition, offering a chance to explore local produce and unique crafts. The Southside Showground Market, held on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month, is the closest to the cottage, while the Duck Pond Markets take place on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sundays.

For a coastal escape, visit Tin Can Bay for dolphin feeding, or enjoy a leisurely walk around the seaside village of Rainbow Beach. Be sure to stop by the Rainbow Beach Surf Club for a delicious meal with breathtaking ocean views.
